So here is our view from our front porch. It is already 'ghost town' over there at the point this picture was taken. Just wanted to give an idea of what all we'll be seeing from our front porch over the coming months, from before to after.
Here they have put up the 'construction - keep out - danger!' fence. They have also been doing the asbestos cleaning out at this point. So I couldn't get a picture of this, but when they were finished with whatever they do to prepare for the final demolition, the inside of each apt was just a hallow shell. You could see through the sliding door right out the back windows.
The demolition in progress. Watching this thing tear the buildings down seems to be a slow process, piece by piece. But then I think over the past week and realize they've already taken 3 1/2 buildings down in less than a week! I'd say they are moving right along! This is the Zirschky's building, as we so fondly call it.
This is behind the Zirschky's building, you can see all the others are down now.
They stopped early afternoon, so this is how far they got today on this building.

Thanks! not sure I really want to see it, but I totally do--just mixed feelings....
Hi Janel, this is Jackie Himes. We met a few times last year at some building bbqs. I stumbled on your blog from Kristina's blog, and just happened to hit it today when you posted this! Crazy! My husband, Brant, my daughter, Maddie, and I lived in 205 Loetscher (just for a year). Thanks for the info and the pictures! Although we were only there for 10 months, that was still home, and it is completely bizarre seeing all of it actually being torn down! Anyway, thanks for allowing me to blog stalk...:) Take care, and good luck with all the construction!!
Thanks so much for the pictures. I appreciate it. It's so hard to see it go but I know it needs to be done. I like that my little apartment is still there for the very brief time being.
Janel, thanks so much for posting this! So surreal.

Wow! Crazy to see the building come down!!! Needed to happen, but still sad!
Can't handle this. So many memories of the kids when they were young in those buildings. So many playdates and new babies! Oh well! Thanks for posting this.
Wow. :( I think what was really shocking was to see the picture of the kids getting on the school bus with the construction fence behind them. It made it look like someplace completely unfamiliar to me.
