Well, I got that phone call from Janel this morning, and I must say it was pretty encouraging. Isaac maintained his sats all night on just .3 liters of oxygen. The gastro people were in his room by 8:15 this morning to insert the Ph probe, and that process was completed by 9:05 (it included an x-ray to ensure the probe was properly inserted). For the next 24 hours, a little wire will hang out of his nose that is hooked up to a hard drive to give us the final word on reflux. Janel and I are very glad we're doing this test. We're not going anywhere, and Isaac doesn't seem to mind the probe. I can't help but think it must feel like a serious booger in his nose.
Shortly after I got here this morning, they turned Isaac's oxygen back down to .2 liters, and he's been maintaining well on that for a couple of hours. I think we'll try to turn him down again after the next feeding.
Lord, have mercy.
