I don't know if I mentioned it in my last post, but the facilities here at Robert Wood Johnson are terrific. The room is large and comfortable, the walls are NOT all white, and we have wireless internet! And so I'm sitting in Isaac's room updating the blog.
So far, it has been a good day. Isaac was successfully weaned from the C-PAP machine about 12:30 today. For about 30 minutes, he went without any supplemental oxygen and actually did very well. At 1:00 they transitioned him back to a nasal canula with a small amount of oxygen to help him (hopefully in the near future) make the transition to no supplemental oxygen. Right now he is maintaining his blood oxygen saturation quite well on the low dose of oxygen.
Because Isaac has not been allowed to eat while his breathing is brought under control, Janel was able to get more sleep last night than she has in quite a while. Now that Isaac is off the C-PAP, we hope to try feeding him again soon. Of course, before we can do that, they are going to do more testing. Just like big brother and big sister, all Isaac's tests so far have come back negative.
Aarrggh...another doctor just came in. They're going to draw more blood. Yuck. I feel sorry for the doctor who has to try to find one of Isaac's little veins. I feel much, much, much more sorry for Isaac. Interestingly, this blood is being drawn for the geneticist. We are very curious to see if she/he will find anything. To our knowledge, neither Joshua nor Jenna were seen by a geneticist.
That's all for now. Just fyi, I'm going to leave the laptop with Janel now so she'll be able to check e-mail and/or the blog. It's doubtful that she'll have much time to respond, but I know she'll appreciate any words of encouragement.
Out comes the needle, and I'm getting off the computer!!

First of all, Congratulations on the birth of your adorable baby boy. Wish Isaac didn't have to have such a rough start. Sunday morning we sang Hymn #377, Healer of Our Every Ill - thought of you guys. "Healer of our every ill, Light of each tomorrow, give us peace beyond our fear, and hope beyond our sorrow. You who know our fears and sadness, grace us with your peace and gladness. Spirit of all comfort, fill our hearts."
Our prayer - Love Royce & Carol
Love you guys and praying for your whole family. Hang in there and keep the faith; know we are thinking of you moment by moment in Lancaster County.
